ACB & VCB Breaker
ACB Stands for Air Circuit Breaker where as VCB stands for Vaccum Circuit Breaker. ACB is used for the voltage level upto 440V, whereas VCB is used beyond the 440V. Both circuit breakers differ from each other only in terms of arc quenching medium they are using.
Air circuit Breaker Moving contacts & stationary contact depreciation is more compare with vacuum circuit breaker. ACB required more maintenance than VCBs Size will be bulky than VCb ,Vcb occupies less space. Moving contacts & Stationary contacts Replacement great care required for alignment ,where as Vacuum Breaker No contact replacement . Spring charge Mechanism normally used in all ACBs & VCB for operating the Breaker for firm closing /open for high speed operation.in this a charging Motor (AC/Dc Universal) will be charge a spring & automatically cut off when the charge is full. The Charged spring help to close the Breaker with high torque.- with a simple close solenoid operation same way for trip operation.
